As I've mentioned before, finding ways to practice offstage wherever possible will train you for when you are onstage!
I think about this one everyday -and I'll probably allude to it in the future:
Use the passing lane (left lane) on the freeway exclusively for passing.
So, what does this have anything to do with anything?
1. It forces you to focus on the task at hand (detail).
2. It forces you to pay attention to what's happening around you (surroundings).
3. If you haven't (previously) noticed that the left lane is for passing, you'll start to notice how many people don't treat it as a passing lane -and that will create an emotional response inside of you... (self awareness)...
4. Self awareness is a powerful thing
5. Self awareness is a powerful thing
6. Self awareness is a powerful thing
When I use the left lane exclusively as a passing lane, it fulfills my desire to live out my vision of "seeing people, loving people, and enjoying people". That being said, I'm painfully aware of how people not using the passing lane correctly make me feel (angry, irate, yelling in my car, etc.) -and here's the zinger... THAT'S EXACTLY HOW I MAKE THEM FEEL WHEN I USE IT INCORRECTLY -which is completely and entirely working against my vision statement of seeing people, loving people, and enjoying people.
Attention to detail is important... but even more importantly...
SELF AWARENESS IS A POWERFUL THING
Until next time,
-T.
