Like many of my posts, this one is totally subjective.

I want to talk about the order of your guitar pedals.

Is there a right way?  Many would say "yes"... but ultimately, it comes down to overall sound!  If you like the sound, go for it -if you don't like it, keep experimenting.  Check it out:

General rule of thumb:

*Guitar*

*Tuner* (Mine clips onto the headstock, this can also be on your pedalboard)

Compression

Wah

Overdrive, Distortion, Crunch, etc.

EQ

Loop FX/FX Send (A/B Box)

Pitch (Vibrato, Tremelo, Whammy FX, Octave FX, etc.)

Modulation (Phase, Flange, Chorus, etc.)

Volume, Gate, or Limiter

Delay

Reverb

*Amp with a clean or dirty setting*

Now, I generally don't put all of my pedals on the board at the same time.  I like to find a tone that works for the project/environment I'm working in.  Once I find the "tone" for a project, I make a note of it and have it ready for the next time I need to use it!

*Guitar*

*Tuner*

Amp Emulator (POD)

Volume Pedal

Delay

Reverb

*Amp w/ a clean channel // OR // Direct In*

Guitar tone is one of the most subjective topics on the whole wide internet.  There are a whole lot of things you can do to make your guitar sound awful, but it takes some serious diligence and intentionality to make your guitar tone sound awesome!  Don't consider these to be a "right" way of doing things, but rather a place to start with intentionality.  Once you get started, feel free to start making adjustments and moving things around!

PRO TIP: Once you find that "magic" setting... Take a picture, write it down, type it down, and save it in a few different places.  You don't want to lose "YOUR" sound -especially if you've spent hours finding it!

If you're a person that has "found" your special tone, I'd love to hear it!  Feel free to send me your links, or feel free to share them in the comments below!  I look forward to hearing from you!

Until next time,

-T.
