1. You will end up playing with an excellent sense of time!

2. If you keep track of your BPMs in a book, your speed increase can be easily graphed!

3. It is an honest reference point.

4. It'll tell you immediately if you are slowing down or speeding up during a passage.

5. (For Singers) - If you can snap on beats 2 and 4 for the duration of the song whilst singing, you REALLY know your parts! (It's a fun exercise... give it a go!)

6. (For Everybody) - If you acquaint yourself w/ a metronome, you won't find yourself clapping on 1 and 3 during group singing events!

7. You'll learn what it feels like to "lock in" to a beat!

8. You'll be ready to play for a rhythm section when the time comes!

9. You'll perform musical passages exponentially more clearly when you rehearse w/ a metronome!

10. The metronome will put fast passages into perspective (believe it or not, when you start slow and work up to a faster sounding passage with a metronome, you'll often find that the passage is mechanically played quite a bit slower than what your mind tells your ears to hear it as).

That should do it for today!  There are free metronome apps available in the Apple and Android app stores!  Let me know if YOU have any favorite practice tips and/or techniques for rehearsing with a metronome!

Until next time,

-T.
